The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has recommended cooperation as a major catalyst for the growth of tourism between countries on the Africa continent.

The UNWTO conversely suggested same collaborations for the public and private sectors adding, “It will allow tourism to keep growing, providing opportunities and better lives for millions in the years ahead.”

In an Africa Day Message to countries on the continent in commemoration of this year’s African Union Day, Secretary-General of the UNWTO, Zurab Pololikashvili said, “we celebrate Africa’s rich heritage, its people, cultural diversity and exciting gastronomy. These are all reasons why African tourism has been on the rise over recent years. And this gives us good reason to be optimistic as we look to the future.”

As countries in Africa and the world over, begin to slowly open their borders, it is the hope of the UNWTO that the tourism sector can build trust and confidence once again.
